Reflections for “When Mara Met Siddhattha”

by | Oct 25, 2023 | Buddhism.net Blog

The post titled When Mara Met Siddhattha is now up on Buddhism for All. Angela from the Buddhism.net team reflected on it, and invites you to do so too.

🌕 Angela’s Reflections:

When we face challenges in life, sometimes, it is easy to envy others for their seemingly smooth-sailing life (especially in today’s age of curated social media posts). It is somewhat humbling, inspiring, and heartening to know that even until the last moment before Siddhattha became fully enlightened, he was still facing Mara. Stay on the path. Go straight. We are not alone in our struggles.

🌱 Journal Reflection Prompts for You:

  • 📝 What does Mara represent to you?

  • 📝 Reflect on a personal challenge that feels overwhelming. How might you shift your perspective to see it as an opportunity for growth rather than a setback?

  • 📝 Consider a figure from history or a personal hero who overcame adversity. What specific qualities or mindsets did they possess that you can incorporate into your own life?

  • 📝 Recall a moment when you felt like giving up but chose to persist. What lessons did that experience teach you, and how did it shape your journey?
