We are delighted to share the recording of Episode 09 of Vibe with Venerables, where we get to talk “live” to Buddhist masters together.

In this episode, Chade-Meng Tan hosts Venerable Thubten Chodron, Buddhist nun, founder and abbess of Sravasti Abbey, who discusses love from a Buddhist perspective.

Venerable Chodron opens with a prayer of refuge in the Three Jewels, generating bodhicitta and reciting the four immeasurables. Venerable explains the significance of the four immeasurables, emphasizing the importance of wishing happiness and freedom from suffering for all sentient beings.

She then explores the difference between worldly happiness and Dharma happiness. Worldly happiness is often based on external things such as material possessions and social status, which can lead to suffering due to attachment. Dharma happiness, on the other hand, comes from releasing ignorance, anger, attachment, and cultivating a peaceful mind. Happiness grounded in ethical conduct, generosity, and practicing the Dharma leads to long-term happiness and fulfillment.

The episode concludes with a Q&A and a dedication for the awakening of all beings.
