Concluding Our Journey: 10 Sessions on Ethical Conduct, Concentration, and Wisdom with Sravasti Abbey Monastics

by | Oct 22, 2026 | Buddhism.net Blog, Recording

As all things are subject to impermanence, our special 10-part series with the monastics of Sravasti Abbey has reached its conclusion. Over the course of these Vibe with Venerables sessions, we have been incredibly fortunate to receive profound, practical, and accessible teachings directly from Venerable Chodron, together with Venerable Samten, Venerable Damcho, Venerable Tsepal, Venerable Lamsel, and Venerable Monlam.

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to the monastics of Sravasti Abbey once again for sharing their time, warmth, and profound wisdom with our community. A special thank you goes out to our host and Buddhism.net co-founder, Meng, for guiding these conversations so beautifully. Indeed “A good boy!” – in Meng’s own words. We also want to deeply thank Angela, who seamlessly put all the operational matters together, along with the many hands and hearts behind the scenes who made this entire series possible.

Throughout these ten episodes, we journeyed into the Three Higher Trainings of Buddhism: Ethical Conduct, Concentration, and Wisdom. We learned how to lay a strong moral foundation, quiet our restless minds, and finally, cut through the root of our suffering with penetrating insight.

Beyond the core episodes, our journey together was deeply enriched by the three After Vibe: Dharma Sharing Circle sessions. These gatherings provided a beautiful space for our community to come together, process the teachings, and share how we are applying these lessons in our everyday lives. It was a wonderful reminder of the importance of Sangha: supporting and inspiring one another on the path.

Whether you are just discovering this series now, missed a few sessions, or simply want to re-watch and deepen your understanding, we have compiled the entire series below. Bookmark this page, take your time with each session, and allow these teachings to slowly integrate into your daily activities.

Part 2: Higher Training in Concentration

With a grounded ethical foundation, the monastics guided us into the art of meditation, showing us the prerequisites for deep concentration and how to avoid the trap of “rushing” our practice.

Episode 47: The Higher Training in Concentration Explained

Episode 48: Higher Training in Concentration: Why You Can’t Rush Samadhi

Episode 49: How to Prepare for Meditation: Six Preparatory Practices

Part 3: Higher Training in Wisdom

In the final stretch, we explored the ultimate goal of the path: developing the wisdom that frees us from cyclic existence by understanding the true nature of reality and the self.

Episode 50: The Three Types of Buddhist Wisdom: Hearing, Reflecting, and Meditating

Episode 51: How Wisdom Ends Suffering at Every Level

Episode 52: The Buddhist View of Self

As you go through these recordings, remember that Dharma is not just to be learned, but to be lived. As Episode 50 reminds us, true wisdom comes from hearing, reflecting, and finally meditating.

May these teachings bring immense benefit and peace to your life!
