Reflections for “Abbot’s Commentary: You Can Do It”

by | Nov 18, 2023 | Buddhism.net Blog

The post titled Abbot’s Commentary: You Can Do It is now up on Buddhism for All. Angela from the Buddhism.net team reflected on it, and invites you to do so too.

🌕 Angela’s Reflections:

When you have seen how people are like silkworms that create our cocoons that bind us, or like moths that fly directly into the flame of our demise, wouldn’t you want to alert people to the ignorance and delusion that drive our lives?

This longing to awaken self and others to ultimate reality is Bodhicitta. Bodhicitta is the longing to be completely free and awake, so that we can be part of bringing awakening to others and alleviating suffering. Especially more so, if you know that the mind is fundamentally and innately awake. This is ultimate Bodhicitta.

🌱 Journal Reflection Prompts for You:

  • 📝 What is your key takeaway or insight from this whole chapter on the third noble truth?

  • 📝 How might you cultivate virtuous qualities of mind like wisdom and compassion?
