Reflections for “The Buddha Formerly Known as Prince”

by | Oct 22, 2023 | Buddhism.net Blog

The post titled The Buddha Formerly Known as Prince is now up on Buddhism for All. Angela from the Buddhism.net team reflected on it, and invites you to do so too.

🌕 Angela’s Reflections:

Prince Siddhattha had all the material wealth, sensory enjoyment, power and the good life we all dream of. He was also talented, well-loved by his people and highly intelligent. If he became a great king, do you think that his influence would have reached us today in modern day? Prince Siddhattha became a great sage as predicted, and more than 2500 years later, his teachings are still fresh and relevant to us.

🌱 Journal Reflection Prompts for You:

  • 📝 Reflect on the Prince Siddhattha’s aspirations. Would you have taken the same path if you were in his position, with his wealth and power? Why or why not?

  • 📝 Reflect on your deepest aspirations. What is most important to you?

  • 📝 Reflect on a transformative event in your life, where you shifted from one version of yourself to another. What caused this change? How does your journey compare to Siddhartha’s transition from prince to sage?
