Nothing Exists Alone — In Celebration of Indigenous Peoples’ Day

by | Oct 12, 2026 | Buddhism.net Blog

Think about the last meal you ate. Someone grew it. Rain watered it. Soil nourished it. The sun played its part, too.

Buddhism teaches interdependence: nothing exists on its own. Our lives are connected to the natural world and to countless beings, often in ways we don’t see.

Across generations, Indigenous communities have sustained deep relationships with their lands and waters, carrying knowledge, traditions, and responsibilities that continue to shape their communities today.

On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Buddhism.net honors Indigenous peoples, their enduring connections to the land, and the wisdom they continue to share.
