In Episode 24 of Vibe with Venerables, Bhante Sujato introduces us to the Mahāparinibbānasutta (Dīgha Nikāya 16). Bhante Sujato discusses conflict resolution, referencing the Mahaparinibbana Sutra. He explains that conflicts, like those between King Ajatasattu of Magadha and the Vajjian Republic, often stem from internal issues. Bhante highlights seven principles for non-decline: frequent meetings, harmony, adherence to ancient decrees, respect for elders, protection of women, reverence for shrines, and safeguarding wise individuals. He emphasizes the importance of spiritual and moral values in societal strength. The discussion also touches on the Israel-Palestine conflict, advocating for non-violent approaches.
