Coming Up: Virtue is Badass Awesome

by | Feb 20, 2024 | Buddhism.net Blog

Friends,

We just spent 2 entire topics talking about meditation: Topic #7 on right mindfulness, and Topic #8 on right samadhi.  Yes, meditation is extremely important in Buddhist practice, but if we ever give you the mistaken impression that virtue is merely the preparation for meditation, and that meditation is the “real Buddhism”, then you should scold us and call us funny names. In truth, virtue is a powerful and essential component in every step of the training.

In Topic #9, we will devote an entire topic to the exploration of virtue.  We will see how virtue can be the rocket fuel that powers our spiritual practice, from the beginning right to the end.  Virtue powers your practice, and in turn, practice powers your virtue.  Virtue and practice therefore forms a practical virtuous cycle.

Learn more about virtue in Topic #9 starting today.  As usual, we will put up 3 posts per week.  Why 3?  Because 2 is too few, and 4 is too many, that’s why.
