Coming Up: the First Noble Truth

by | Oct 28, 2023 | Buddhism.net Blog

In Topic#2 of Buddhism for All, we got to meet the Buddha, the founder of Buddhism.  The most important lesson in learning the life of the Buddha boils down to four points:

  1. He was a person.
  2. You are a person.
  3. He did it.
  4. You can do it.

In the upcoming topics, we will dive into the Buddha’s teachings, and learn how we can all gain freedom from suffering.

To treat a disease, the first thing to do is to understand that disease.  In the same way, to be free from suffering, the first thing to do is to really understand suffering.  That is why the First Noble Truth is about the nature of suffering.  That is what we will explore in Topic#3, starting today.

As usual, if you have not caught up with the posts, it’s not too late.  We plan to keep all Buddhism for All post on Buddhism.net indefinitely (for as long as the laws of impermanence allow).  Just head over anytime.
